Ma Feng Excavations 2018
In 2018 we discovered a very interesting cave close to Bapeng Cave (a know Giganto-bearing cave). Prelimary 'poking around' revealed many fossils and great potential for excavation - with only one issue - it was occupied by a large colony of wasps that required 'gentle' smoking out to encourage to them to vacate during excavations! the cave yielded a rich mix of Stegedon-Aliropoda fauna (the classic animal assemblage in this area) but as yet no Giganto.
What we needed was a cave with a higher elevation (and therefore older) - that is when Yingqi discovered Xiao Kou cave!
